Project Manager

Dannika's musical event journey started with a basic format Open Mic that started at Bagel's & Brew.

Eventually with wanting to combine her community gardening efforts and local music events she decided to host music in the "Community Garden Art Farm" that she managed.

Due to changes and certain circumstances she had to be resourceful and find another venue where she could host Open Mic, then she found the outdoor public Library Amphitheatre.

All summer of 2014 Dannika hosted Open Mic every week. Then her desire to expand the project lead to a fundrasing concert put on by her and other local musicians to help create some funding for the amphitheatre project. Stasia, Logan Carlstrom, Connor James, Hillbilly Trucker, Nick Morgan and her & her bandmate Steve provided a joyful and successful evening for themselves and the community.

When the seasons changed and she started working at the new hot spot in Castlegar "Crumbs Bakery" she worked with the owners on having a regular music event at the Cafe called "Music at Crumbs". With a successful first season they hosted various local talent like "That Girl & Earl", "Max Hawk & Michelle St. Denis" and "Nina Amelio".

Into March 2015 Dannika decided to host a larger fundraiser at the Element Club Bar & Grill to create funding but also more awareness that these music projects were happening. "Andrew Parkhouse & the Magpies" and "The Racket" two fabulous Nelson bands performed with her duo "The Frequent Flyers". It was a hugely successful evening that really showcased local talent and that brought out the communitys' desire to support musicianship.

Dannika recently received a grant from the Columbia Basin Trust. With this grant she has created a free concert series for the community called the "No Loitering Concert Series". Don't forget to check out the "Schedules" page on this website to see when the next show is!
